The motion brought by Leon Natta challenging the constitutionality of the Public Service Code 9 which prohibits civil servants from participating in politics was heard in the high court on Friday.Mr. Natta, a government employee, was suspended from duty in October 2018 when the Public Service Commission accused him of being actively involved with a political organisation.
Natta moved the court seeking a declaration that he be entitled to contests the elections in the federation.His Honor Justice Eddy Ventose heard oral submissions from Natta’s Attorney Sylvester Anthony and from Douglas Mendes SC, who represented the respondent in the case.
