An official at the Electoral Office in Basseterre has confirmed that production of the National Identification Cards has been halted temporarily.Electoral officials say they are seeking to correct a breach of security in relation to the printing of those cards.
That announcement was apparently prompted by statements by Deputy Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Marcella Liburd, who alleged that the registration process has stopped, and expressed concern about the matter.Liburd claims that the office is continuing to turn away persons from registering while not publishing the monthly revised voter’s lists.
