Twenty four new Island Constables were sworn in on Friday (February 15) for deployment to increase security personnel presence in tourist hotspots, schools, and communities.Minister of Tourism, Lindsay Grant says he is heartened at the response of the number of people who have answered the call to serve in the tourism sector.
The minister told the new constables that safety and security and proper customer service are top priority areas for the sector which accounts for 25 percent of the island’s Gross Domestic Product.Grant emphasized that any criminal activity affecting tourists could erode the economic gains the island.
