Twenty-four (24) new island constables were sworn in at Government House on Monday, February 18, 2019 to ensure first and foremost that visitors to the country’s tourist attractions are kept safe. This is historic as they are the first island constables to be appointed specifically to tourism related areas.Upon the administration of the oath and reception of instruments of appointment for the island constables, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris underscored the importance of keeping the country’s visitors safe.
Prime Minister Harris said that key touristic sites including Port Zante, the St. George’s Anglican Church, Independence Square and Black Rocks in St. Kitts, as well as sites in Nevis, are all set to benefit from the added safety and security.
