The Ministry of Agriculture has to date not been able to contain the monkey problem facing the sector.Agriculture officials have however vowed to carry on the fight this year.The primates have eaten or destroyed cash crops, creating losses for the farmers and the overall sector.
Agriculture Minister, Eugene Hamilton, said that the government encountered a challenge in putting together a group to deal with the problem.However, they are currently speaking with other stakeholders to establish a plan to deal with the problem of monkeys destroying agricultural crops.Farmers on St. Kitts have faced a number of hardships they contend has to do with the overpopulation of monkeys.
