THE Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley, has dispelled rumours of the closure of the Federal Government’s Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP).
While addressing reporters at his latest press conference, Brantley denied speculations that the programme is coming to an end despite a notice saying payment would be made on Tuesday (Mar. 5) at the Elquemedo Willet Park.“I am not aware of any end or cessation. People have been getting their cheques religiously and we will continue. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen a notice that has gone out that says when the next cheques are going out.

Brantley’s comment came against the backdrop of a social media post that suggested the programme was coming to an end. That post came two months after the programme was launched to assist households deemed to be on the poverty line.
