The Nevis Island Assembly is about to initiate a fly local campaign to attract more air passengers to the Vance Amory International Airport.Premiere Mark Brantley made the announcement after pointing out that the number of people using the airport had dropped significantly over a twelve year period.
While the figures in 2006 stood well over 79,000, the numbers dwindled to just over 14,800 passengers in 2018.Brantley, “..Use the water taxi yes when necessary, but also, use the other ferries as well but also to use the Vance Amory International Airport. And so very shortly we’ll be starting a Fly Local campaign as we call it and all that we’re doing is just like agriculture they do the eat local.
